Valve positioner is designed for comparing the position of valve actuator and control signal to move the actuator accordingly. It can be used with linear valves as well as rotary valves. When diaphragm chamber's 0.2 to 1 bar pressure could not cope with friction and high differential pressures, valve positioners come in action. Apart from electric valve positioner, there are three other types, like pneumatic, electro-pneumatic, and digital valve positioners. The responsibility of this type is to send and receive electrical signals. It receives electric (usually 4-20 mA) signals. It uses electricity as an input signal.
